ಪಾಶ್ಚಿಮಾತ್ಯ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಾದರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸಸ್ಯಹಾರಿಗಳೆಂದುಕೊಂಡರೆ , ಅವರು ಹಾಲು ಹಾಗು ಮೊಸರನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರ ಅಡಿಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “ ಸೋಯಾ ” ದಂತಹ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು “ vegetarians” ಬದಲಾಗಿ “vegans” ಎಂದು ಕರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಇಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತರೆ. ಇಂಥಹ ಜನಗಳ ಪೈಕಿ ಮುಕ್ಕಾಲು ಭಾಗದ ಜನರು “Buddhists” ಗಳು ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರು “ ಹರೇ ರಾಮ ಹರೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ” ISKCON ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ “ voluntary” ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವವರು (ಹೌದು! ಇಲ್ಲೂ ISKCON ಗುಂಪುಗಳಿವೆ). ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ Czech Republic ಬೀದಿ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “ ಹರೇ ರಾಮ ಹರೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ” ಗುಂಪಿನವರನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಈ ಗುಂಪುಗಳು ಭಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಡುವವರು ಭಾರತೀಯರೇನಲ್ಲ ಆದ್ರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನರೇ. ಈ ಪೈಕಿಯ ಜನರು, “tea house” ಎಂಬ ಜಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ “tea house” ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “chai” ಗಳು ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದ್ರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ “chai” ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ “chai” ಯಂತಲ್ಲ. ಪಾಶ್ಚಿಮಾತ್ಯ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “chai” ಎಂದರೆ ಒಂದು ಕಪ್ ಬಿಸಿನೀರಿಗೆ, ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಗಿಡಮೂಲಿಕೆಗಳನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹಾಕಿ ಕುದಿಸಿ ಕುಡಿಯುವುದೆಂದು. ಇದು ಅವರಿಗೆ “chai” . ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡೊ ಮಸಲಾ chai ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗೋದು ಬಹಳ ಅಪರೂಪ. ಇಂಥಹ “tea house” ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಗುಡುಗುಡಿಯನ...

Macocha Abyss(Sinkhole): The Macocha Abyss (Czech: Propast Macocha, literally the Stepmother Abyss), also known as the Macocha Gorge, is a sinkhole in the Moravian Karst cave system of the Czech Republic located north of the city of Brno, near the town of Blansko. The Punkva River flows through it.The sinkhole is about 138.7 meters deep and also the deepest of its kind (light hole type) in Central Europe . A sinkhole, also known as a sink, shake hole, swallow hole, swallet, doline or cenote, is a natural depression or hole in the Earth's surface caused by karst processes — the chemical dissolution of carbonate rocks or suffosion processes in sandstone. Geography and chemistry were two of my favourite subjects during my school days. This nature’s wonder is all about the geography and chemical compositions Moravian Karst is located in the moravian region of Czech Republic. This is one of the most important karst areas of Central Europe. Karst topography is a landscape shaped by the dissolution of a layer or layers of soluble bedrock usually carbonate rock such as limestone or dolomite. Karst topography is also characterized by subterranean limestone caverns, carved by groundwater. In the area of Moravian Karst, there are more than 1100 caverns and gorges. But only 4 caves of the all number are open to public. They are: • Punkvevní jeskyně (Punkva Caves) with their underground river. • Kateřinská jeskyně (Catherine’s Cave) with its unique limestone columns. • The Balcarka Cave. • Sloupsko-šošůvské jeskyně (Sloup-Šošůvka Caves) are made by huge corridors and underground gorges. Once upon a time in 1991, me and my brother were returning home after school. I was about 10 years old and my brother 4 year old. He used to always hold my hand and walk along with me (like a good boy!!) listening to whatever I had to blabber (such an angel he was; even now he is). I always wanted to look like a responsible sister who can handle any situations (Such adorable days those were…). We then saw a man who was walking towards us from the opposite direction on the same footpath (we were told in our school that good children walk only on the footpath). This man’s looks were intimidating. His head was shaven off, he had a heavy moustache (almost like Veerappan’s) and face full of acne. My mother always used to tell me that looks does not necessarily define a person’s attitude. So I sort of tried to look as brave as I could. ೧೯೮೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ವರ್ಗಾವಣೆಯಾಯಿತು. ಆಗ ನಾನು ೩ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಗೋಕುಲಂ ಬಡಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಡಿಗೆಗೆ ಇದ್ದೆವು.ನಮಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಹೊಸದು. ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಜನ, ಅವರ ಮಾತುಕತೆ, ಅವರ ನಡವಳಿಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ನಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ರೀತಿ ಹೊಸದು. ಬಾರಿ “relaxed” ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಜನರು. ಗೋಕುಲಮ್ ಬಡಾವಣೆಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕನ್ನಡದಂತೆ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಬಡಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಕನ್ನಡವು ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಕನ್ನಡದಂತಿತ್ತು. “ಏನ್ಲಾ?”, “ಬಾರ್ಲೇ ಮಗನೇ” ಇಂತಹ ಪದಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು. ನನಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಗೆಳತಿಯರ ಪರಿಚಯವಾಯಿತು. ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಸುಮಾರು ನನ್ನ ವಯ್ಯಸ್ಸಿನವರೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ನಮ್ಮ ಬಡಾವಣೆಯ ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಮಶಾಣ ಒಂದಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಸ್ಮಶಾಣ ದ ಅಕ್ಕ ಪಕ್ಕ ಮರದ ತೋಪುಗಳು ಇದ್ದವು. ನಾನೂ ನನ್ನ ಹೊಸ ಗೆಳತಿಯರೂ ಆ “ಕಾಡಲ್ಲಿ” ಅಡ್ಡಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವುದೆಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿದೆವು. ನಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮ ಅಪ್ಪಅಮ್ಮಂದಿರಿಗೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿ ಒಂದು ಭಾನುವಾರ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಾಹಸಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದೆವು. ಆ ತೋಪನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದಮೇಲೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದದ್ದು ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಒಂದೆರಡು ಲಿಂಗಗಳು ಹಾಗು ತುಳಸಿಕಟ್ಟೆಗಳು. ತುಳಸಿಕಟ್ಟೆ ಇದ್ದಮೇಲೆ ಅಕ್ಕ ಪಕ್ಕ ಮನೆಗಳಿರಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೇ. ಹತ್ತಿರದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ಮನೆಗಳು ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಲಿಂಗಗಳೂ, ತುಳಸಿಕಟ್ಟೆಗಳೂ ...
