Political Scams and Social Networks!!!

2G Spectrum Scam: Barkhagate or SanghviGate issue is under a fire on some social communities like Twitter and Facebook. After reading conversations of the tapes (published by both Open Magazine and Outlook), I would like to quote an opinion by Salil Tripathi. " To state the obvious first: This is not Barkhagate or Sanghvigate, it is Rajagate, or Radiagate. Journalists who appear larger than life in their media profile play a small part here—as willing go-betweens, ferrying messages between politicians at Radia’s (and in effect her powerful corporate clients’) request. That isn’t illegal, nor is it necessarily corrupt. But it shows careless judgement and weakens the media’s credibility. " - Salil Tripathi  at ( http://www.livemint.com/2010/11/24211300/Over-the-thin-red-line.html ) I personally agree to what Salil has quoted above. I feel that nobody is talking about real issue here which is 2G Spectrum Scam itself! Anil Ambani was given the 2G spectru...

Education and Schooling-- Where is it heading to??

In India, ask any student what career they want to choose? An expected answer is an Engineer or a Doctor or a Lawyer or to study Management or recent trend which is Commerce (F & A). If majority of the students wants to study only one among these, then who is going to study life sciences, literature, arts, translation, Social sciences or Teaching(as teachers) or sports? The answer is-- those who have got lower marks in their secondary schools (I am not degrading such students because there are several reasons for them to score lower marks and scoring lower marks need not necessarily mean that a student is not worthy of anything at all, it is just our education system which makes sure that a student who has no good marks to a financially struggling parents will be doomed!!) The schooling system and society has very successfully created an environment which is -- a student with higher marks >have< to select the “elite professional” studies only, if not then the studen...

Air flight stumbled!

At last I boarded Boeing airbus in Mexico to reach Los Angeles. It is a very uncomfortable situation for me to find the right gate for the right flight especially in the international airports which are huge. This is because I had missed a flight in Paris once and that was my first ever experience of flying alone. It was a very stressful situation then. I was then so worried that I might have to buy a new ticket and French people are never friendly with those who do not know French but can speak fluent English. But fortunately I got a seat in the next flight. Now that I boarded this flight to Los Angeles, I took my seat hoping there would be a handsome stranger sitting next to me. But it turned out to be a woman with a frowning face and who’s dressed to look like a corporate employee. All the procedures that the passengers need to follow were announced (there is nothing new in the procedures and it is such a boring routine, isn’t it?), and we obeyed. The flight took off. I was feeli...

Valuable lessons learnt from my life’s experiences

Image
"Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced -- even a proverb is no proverb to you till your life has illustrated it." -- John Keats • Smile always. This is because humans from the time of evolution tend to connect with those who are pleasant in nature and when we smile it erases all the unanswered questions about a person (even if it is sometimes pretence). It is quite evolutionary that people feel comfortable with those who are smiling all the time than those who are frowning... • There is no point in losing temper for small and unwanted conversations. Losing temper only makes us lose the stand of what we wanted to convey. • Will no longer take online communities seriously (this is my personal opinion). This is because if you want to be friends with somebody, it is better to be friends in person (go to café with them or get together and speak your heart out) than through these virtual connections. We humans are social animals, so it only makes sense...
