Attacks on Women

Whenever a woman tries to be revolutionary, it seems that society considers it as being an outcast and blames her. Be it the dress she wears, be it if she is raped, be it harassment at work, be it if she wants to be financially independent, be it eve teasing, harassment of widows.

If a woman is raped, then it is because she has dressed in a sultry way and society blabbers “I told you something will happen to her sometime, because she dresses like that”. It is nothing got to do with why that rapist can’t do such a thing.
If a women is independent and wants to lead a life which she dreams about then it is being like an outcast. A girl who will be in the verge of getting married, needs to take her future in law’s permission whether she can work or not, this is even now happening and in this recession stuck world.
If a woman after marriage wants to move out, then she is breaking the family.
Women have to be virgin before their marriage, even if the man marrying her need not be one.

In the latest story of woman harassment comes up like beating women in pubs, because some hooligans think it is not “Indian Culture”. According to some of the right wing goons, it is like; if a woman goes to pub and drinks then they will not be a good example for her next generation.

Be it, being financially independent or strong minded, it takes lots of courage for a woman, even in a democratic country like ours to achieve. Attacks in cities like Bangalore after a revolutionary “pink chaddi” campaign is a shame.

Nobody can make a woman’s life better than herself. She should have her own visions and ideas about how her life should be, for certain girls it would be harder than others, but she should give a try until she succeeds. She should make decisions on her own, that will make her confident, she should be financially independent and dependence on husbands all life is not a very good idea at all, no matter how helpful he is. Self decisions reap better results than taking it from your parents or siblings, be it whatever good ideas they have got for her.
Because lets not forget that women revolution in the subcontinent started in 13th century by Akkamahadevi and 14th century by Meera Bai and if any revolutions will take place or is taking place then its just restarting again.
