Aishwarya Rai to be honoured at World Kannada Conference!!

I read this piece news on Indian Express and was shocked to know that Aishwarya Rai is to be honored at "World Kannada Conference" along with Narayan Murthy.

It says "The objective of the Conference is to display the developments achieved by Karnataka in the field of Agriculture, Information Technology, Bio-Technology, Industry, Arts and other sectors, it said."
The function would also honor those from Karnataka and other States who have achieved great heights in their respective field, it said- This statement I think does not make sense at all. It sounds like made up for the very moment to include her name. 


The logic of this conference is all about kannada. What does it mean when they say "honor those from Karnataka and other States who have achieved great heights in their respective field"?
---Why should somebody from "Other" state who has never spoken a sentence in kannada even though they have achieved a lot should be in "Kannada" conference?? What is the connection?

My issue is not with Aishwarya itself. I mean, she of course have achieved quite a lot in her life which is commendable. But has she spoken even one sentence in kannada in her entire life??

There are millions of kannadigas living outside Karnataka, who speak Kannada and also have achieved quite a lot in their lives. Then why Aishwarya Rai?

What are your thoughts?

    With Aishwarya, the World Kannada Conference will get more visibility, news coverage and maybe a pic or two on the front pages.

    Like you said she may be an achiever,but she doesn't represent Kannadigans.

“What do you want for your birthday?” he asked “A smartphone” I replied to him. Kiran rolled his eyes again as we had had this discussion for about four or five times during this year. Find Part 1 here My newly found uncle became quite close to us and we started to visit each other during festivals and functions and so on. My uncle speaks a lot and and my family was silent lot and used to just smile and nod to whatever he used to say.
