Orlické hory-the Eagle Mountains

During summer time, some people like to beat the heat by spending time in hill stations, most Europeans love to spend time on beaches and tan (miserably). This is out of scope for an Indian like me. So we decided to spend time together in Orlické hory-the Eagle Mountains in Czech Republic.

After one year of hectic working schedules we got a chance to go on vacation together.
So we left Brno and reached Deštné Orlické hory (http://www.orlickehory.net/eng/places/destne.htm) on 21st of May 2011 at around 15.00 pm afternoon. We entered the lodge to check-in and then came to know that the lodge had been sold just a week ago and nobody had informed us!! This was one of the big and good Lodges in the region and what more we had paid half the price! Then the lady who was working in the lodge and who is a native of this place took us to another lodge. This lodge was run by a family and they agreed to take us in. Fortunately for us during summer times in Czech Republic, people spend time on beaches and not in the mountains.

We clicked several wonderful pictures which I am sharing with you.
This family had 2 big Swiss white shepherds.

We had wonderful time hiking, mountaineering, sight seeing.

View from the highest point after mountaineering.

We also met a wood artist and his wife who is a ceramic artist in a place called Dobré to place an order to make a board in wood called Lipa for “chauka bara” and Pagade (similar to Ludo)- both Mysorean board games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilia). We had met this man in Brno during summer festival last year and we had taken his contact.

Then we visited a place called Opočno which is famous for delicious ice cream and its castle. We went for a tour inside the castle.

Overall we had wonderful holiday.
